Now Leader Tornedalen 2030 has started an international cooperation project! Three leader areas with Outokaira tuottamhan as the main responsible (Pello, Ylitornio and Tornio), Leader Tunturi-Lappi (Enontekiö, Kittilä, Kolari and Muonio) and Leader Tornedalen 2030 (Kiruna, Pajala, Övertorneå and Haparanda) as partners, have been granted a joint feasibility study via Interreg Aurora. The feasibility study will investigate potential needs and opportunities for cross-border cooperation development. The project's goal is cross-border local cooperation according to the CLLD model, inspired by models from Austria, Italy, and Switzerland.

Brief description of the project's goals and actions

The project's goal is to strengthen cross-border cooperation by developing the Community Led Local Development (CLLD) model in Sweden, Finland, and possibly Norway. The structure around administration and financing varies between countries, making long-term cooperation challenging. The project consists of three workshops:

  1. Build a cooperation network and identify CLLD partners in Sweden and Finland (possibly Norway).
  2. Assess local development needs, available resources, and possible funding opportunities for the period 2028 – 2032, including opportunities within Interreg Aurora.
  3. Develop action alternatives based on the results from the first two workshops.

The expected result is a joint action plan for implementing the CLLD model with three local needs assessments. For each workshop, an external actor with relevant expertise will be hired to support the project's implementation, while the local Leader groups will handle the project's administration and communication.
