Develop
your place in Tornedalen

At Leader Tornedalen, you, your association, or your business can apply for funds to develop your place. Our belief is that you know how it can happen in the best way.

THE LEADER METHOD

”The countryside develops best by us who live and work here”

Development through Leader means that you who have ideas about local development can present them, engage, and seek funds for projects. It is about developing your area based on local conditions. The idea is that local development is carried out most effectively by those living and working in the area; by you, your association, local businesses, and other organizations.

The Leader area Tornedalen 2030 includes four municipalities: Kiruna, Pajala, Övertorneå, and Haparanda in Norrbotten County. It is Sweden's northernmost Leader area and borders Norway and Finland.

The vision for Tornedalen 2030 is:

Tornedalen is welcoming and inclusive.

Here we focus on our opportunities and solve challenges together.

With us, it is allowed to both succeed and fail.

Everyone living in the area is an ambassador for a growing area,

full of development power and energy.

This is to strengthen identities and reduce conflicts by making cultures visible and spreading experiences across national borders and to raise knowledge, include, and create a sense of a shared future in a changing world.
